PTP has a large and growing number of profiles. Even within the power industry, there are different PTP profiles and variants. Equipment from different vendors must inter-operate and the challenge grows as PTP is becomes more widely deployed within the industry. This paper looks at the role of a "PTP profile convertor" to achieve translation between different PTP profiles. Especially - what function is performed, what profiles can be supported, what are the practical requirements and limitations of translating between profiles.

PTP trasnlation is common to other industry segments and generally to all cross-indrustry PTP communications.
