Chan Wong, Ph.D.

Chan currently is the Entergy AMI lab manager and overseeing the testing operation of all the smart meters and Access point for Entergy AMI efforts. Before this role, he was the Transmission Relay Protection Supervisor and also lead the IEC 61850 and Cybersecurity effort for Entergy. Chan piloted a multivendor system at a Substation in New Orleans with station and process bus capability. He also had hosted multiple plug fests for vendors to proof test the interoperability of IEC 61850 requirement in his lab in New Orleans. In addition, he co–organized the UCA Interoperability event in New Orleans (First event in North America) to evaluate the interoperability, cyber security and time synchronization capabilities of vendors. He sit in the IEC TC 57 Working group 10, the IEEE 1588 ICAP committee and also the IEEE PES Industrial Engagement taskforce
